NASA astronauts are expected to wear a dior bath suit, a space travel outfit that looks like a swimming pool, on the International Space Station on Saturday, the agency announced Thursday.
The astronauts will be working alongside cosmonauts aboard the International Transport System (ITS) capsule.
The space agency plans to launch a commercial version of the dior model later this month, the space agency said.NASA astronauts on the ISS wearing a space-based dior.
The dior design was developed by French company DSG, which also developed the swimsuit, NASA said.
The spacecraft is scheduled to launch in 2019.
The agency said the dorias are part of a larger program that includes new suits for space exploration.
The dorises are being tested by NASA’s astronauts, and the astronauts will wear the doral suits during spacewalks, NASA added.
The spacewalking dorials are being built by the company DSGT, which is headquartered in Lyon, France.
The company has partnered with Space Exploration Technologies Corp., which builds spacecrafts for NASA, and is building the dorsal suits for the space station.
The spacewaking suits are designed to withstand temperatures as high as minus-60 degrees Fahrenheit (minus-140 Celsius) while swimming in water.
