The suit worn by the first lady when she visited Las Vegas this week to celebrate the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s 50th anniversary has been described as “unusual” by the woman who was in it, but not by the press.
President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama were in Las Vegas on Wednesday, June 14, for a “summer vacation.”
The first lady wore a white, four-piece, three-quarter-length, black-and-white suit with white-and blue stripes, a pink-and red skirt, white socks and a white towel.
The suits were also photographed in a room of a hotel where Obama was staying.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Thursday the first couple had been in a “small room” with their guests at the MGM Grand and were not wearing any additional gear.
“The first couple was in a hotel room and were wearing nothing but their suit, which was very unusual for the White House,” Psaki said.
Psaki said the president and first Lady were wearing the same suit during their visit to the Grand, which the first family stayed at a time when the presidential seal was still on the front door.
There was no comment from White House press Secretary Jen Psakis about President Barack Obama wearing a four- piece suit on a trip to the Las Clarkas resort this week.
She said the first wife and the president’s daughters, Malia and Sasha, were also in the hotel room during the trip.
Pressed about the suit during her briefing on the trip Thursday, Psaki didn’t comment on whether the suit was similar to the one worn by Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama during a trip last month.
Asked if the suit could be considered “unexpected,” Psakis said, “I’m not going to get into that.”
The first woman, first lady Malia Obama, has long been a fixture in the press corps as a prominent figure in the family.
She has been photographed frequently during her presidency, wearing a white and blue suit with the seal on the back.
On Wednesday, Psakis told reporters the first ladies’ suits were similar to those worn by Michelle Obama when she attended the Super Bowl in 2008 and 2011.
“They’re very similar,” Psak said.
“They’re both black and white with white stripes on the waist, the pants are black, they’re both white and they’re just slightly different.”
The First Lady’s suit is the same color and the same style, so they’re very, very similar.
The First Lady is wearing the exact same suit.
“She added, “It’s something we’ve been looking into, but I think we’re not going into it.
It’s something that we’ve talked about, and I think it’s something the president would look at as well.
