A suit that was once popular among swimwear-clad women has been pulled from sale by Target.
The suit, known as the Suit of the Day, features a red-and-blue design that’s meant to symbolize the blue water and a purple hue, according to a statement from Target.
The company said the suit will no longer be available at the retailer.
The Suit of The Day is a staple of many swimwear brands, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Givenchy, J.
Crew, Prada, and Zara.
But Target pulled the suit from its online store, which carries more than 1,600 brands.
The company said that in its attempt to make the suit more appealing to the fashion-forward crowd, Target decided to make it more “hip” by adding an option for suits in “sportswear” colors, as opposed to the traditional navy.
The brand said the addition of a sportswear-inspired color palette, plus the fact that the suit has a longer sleeve and a more relaxed fit, meant the Suit Of The Day was not appealing enough to the broader customer base.
Target spokeswoman Stephanie Zellner said the company took into consideration customers’ preferences and will continue to offer the Suit And the Swimsuit in all of its sizes.
