The new year will bring more opportunities for union employees to make some serious changes to their outfits, and a new fashion trend could be on the rise.
While the trend of casual suits and dresses may seem foreign to union members, many have been dressing up for decades.
They may not have a union connection, but the fact that they can make the same decisions about their own personal style is empowering, said Donna Kagan, associate director of the union-friendly The Unite Center in New York.
Union workers have made changes to the way they dress since the 1950s, when the garment industry started to grow and union organizers started to push for more transparency.
Since then, workers have come to expect that their outfits reflect their own identity and that they should show up in a way that reflects their beliefs.
It is part of the job, but they can also choose how they want to express themselves.
Kagan said that the trend could become even more prevalent in the next decade.
As more of the country becomes more diverse, people are more likely to embrace diversity, and people want to show it, she said.
“You have to be thoughtful about how you present yourself, because it’s not just about your face,” Kagan said.
“You have a sense of what your body looks like, what your hair looks like and how you look in the mirror, so you can’t just throw your own interpretation on top of that.”
I think this will make us all feel more comfortable.
“Union workers wear dresses that reflect their workplace and the union they belong to.
They also wear hats and accessories to show they are in the union.
They wear a shirt and tie that shows they are a member of the same union, even if they aren’t.”
The way you present it in the workplace is what you do on your personal time,” Kaga said.
Union members wear hats, ties and other casual attire that makes it easy to identify themselves.
But a union-affiliated clothing store called Union Supply in New Orleans recently began offering a union uniform called the union dress, which is designed to show union members that they belong.
The Union Supply union dress is a black tie and white shirt, and it’s designed to highlight the union’s values.”
“I wear it to work every day. “
It’s my way of communicating my identity as a union member.””

This is a story of a group of people trying to make a statement, Ahmed said.
He said the union dressed has become a staple for many workers.
“We have seen a lot of different people wearing this dress,” he said.
People have come out and said, ‘I’m a union person, I’m wearing the union suit,’ ” Ahmed said, noting that there’s a trend of people who are not union members wearing it.
The trend has become so common among the group of about 20,000 union members who are part of Teamsters Local 25, which represents more than 4,000 workers in New Jersey.”
“He said he has seen a shift in the way workers feel comfortable wearing the dress, too.””
They are saying, You know, ‘Let’s get together and make a union’ rather than, ‘Oh, we’re going to wear our union dress,’ ” he said, adding that the dress has also been worn by people who don’t work for the union and may not be union members.”

The union dress has been worn more by men than women, according to Ahmed, who noted that he wears it more often than he does by women.
But, he said that he hasn’t noticed a change in how men wear it, either.”
It feels like, ‘Look, I wear a union suit.’ “”
It’s more for guys.
